Text: Acts 2.24

We conclude our month-long look at the resurrection of Jesus. In today's lesson, we consider the rationale for believing in the actual bodily resurrection of Jesus from the dead - the central claim of Christianity.

Important Note: The lessons will no longer be streamed live at the request of the Woodland elders. This particular video will be posted online by 6 PM on Sunday (April 25th). When we resume full in-person services (next week) the Sunday AM lesson will be posted on Tuesdays.

The Problem with Swooning

4/16/2021

Date: April 18th, 2021
Text: John 19.31-35

Today, we consider another naturalistic explanation for the empty tomb of Jesus - the swoon theory. This suggests that Jesus didn't die but merely fainted from the bodily trauma. He then came to in the tomb and exited leaving it empty. In this lesson we see the problem with swooning as an explanation for the empty tomb.

Conspiracy theories abound in our world, fueled by social media. The greatest "supposed" conspiracy is NOT the charge of a fake moon landing but rather the empty grave of Christ. Today, we will consider why people are drawn to conspiracies and why conspiracy is not an adequate explanation for the empty tomb.

A Toothless Predator

4/2/2021

Date: April 4th, 2021
Text: 1 Thessalonians 4.13-14

The world is filled with predators, but apex predators are the most frightening. They sit at the top of the food chain, preying on the weak, rending bone and flesh with powerful teeth. But as terrifying as a tiger or killer whale may be, there is an even greater predator that pursues all living things: DEATH! However, the resurrection of Jesus renders death a pitiful, toothless predator.
